Hersh as a Speaker/Guest

Hersh’s work sits at the intersection of personal brand, perception, and interpretation, specifically the gap between who someone actually is and how they’re being understood at first contact.

A lot of smart, accomplished people are compelling once they’re in the room, but the signal leading into the conversation is doing far more work than it should.

That gap quietly affects:

  • authority

  • trust

  • positioning

  • referrals

  • visibility

  • opportunities

  • even relationships

And many people don’t realize it’s happening.

A few directions you might explore with Hersh:

  • Why “the work speaks for itself” is usually incomplete

  • The hidden cost of being inspiring but unclear

  • Why strong brands still get misunderstood

  • The difference between visibility and interpretation

  • How overexplaining is often a symptom, not the problem

  • What happens when someone’s value only clicks once they’re live in conversation

For context, Hersh is the founder of YES, BRAND Builders, host of YES, BRAND and Truth Tastes Funny, and author of Selling the Truth.

He’s written three feature films, and spent a decade performing standup comedy at clubs including The Comedy Store, Comedy Cellar, and Funny Bone, sharpening his instinct for audience psychology and real-time interpretation.

Signature Talks

  • "Truth Tastes Funny": a live interpretation shift through conversation, humor, tension, and recognition
  • "The Authority Gap": between who you are becoming and how you are perceived.

Bio

Hersh Rephun works with leaders whose work is strong but not landing the way it should.

He focuses on how that work is interpreted at first contact, because that determines whether people move forward, hesitate, misunderstand, or disengage entirely.

Over the past two decades, he has helped hundreds of individuals and organizations, from early-stage founders to billion-dollar brands, ensure their work is understood the way it’s intended as it reaches larger audiences.

Hersh began as a screenwriter with produced film credits, later building a successful niche public relations firm representing artists and innovators. While raising a family, he simultaneously spent a decade performing standup comedy at clubs including The Comedy Store, Comedy Cellar, and Funny Bone, sharpening his instinct for audience psychology and real-time interpretation.
