Recognizing the stage you’re in is often more important than choosing the next tactic.

Every conversation I have starts in a different place.

Not because my process changes.

Because people arrive at different moments in their own journey.

Some have a nagging sense that something isn’t quite lining up.

Others know exactly what they want to work on.

Most are somewhere in between.

Over time, I’ve noticed four distinct stages.

1. First Contact

This is rarely the first time someone has heard of me.

It’s the first time something resonates.

A conversation.

A podcast.

A newsletter.

A LinkedIn post.

Something puts language to a feeling they’ve been carrying.

They don’t necessarily know what they need yet.

They simply recognize that people aren’t getting the full picture of who they are, what they do, or where they’re headed.

That’s where the journey begins.

2. Recognition

Recognition isn’t agreement.

It’s relief.

It’s the moment someone says,

“That’s exactly what’s been bothering me.”

Not because they’ve found the answer.

Because they’ve finally found the question.

They begin to notice patterns.

The business has evolved.

Their thinking has evolved.

But the way people describe them hasn’t.

Many people stay here for a while.

They read.

They listen.

They observe.

They start recognizing the same patterns in their own business.

3. Strategic Development

Eventually, the question changes.

It stops being,

“What’s happening?”

and becomes,

“What should I do about it?”

This is where we work together.

Not to invent a new identity.

Not to write clever messaging.

But to identify what deserves to become more visible.

Together, we clarify the spine of the brand, the ideas that carry the greatest weight, and the strategy every future investment should amplify.

The work isn’t about changing who you are.

It’s about making sure your next chapter is as recognizable as the one that brought you here.

4. Amplification

This is the stage people often think comes first.

It doesn’t. In fact, it’s downstream of Authority Advisory and while I can recommend several excellent practitioners, these are not services I provide:

PR.

Speaking.

A book.

A website.

Marketing.

Social media.

Sales.

Partnerships.

These don’t create clarity.

They amplify it.

When the signal is coherent, every investment reinforces the same conclusion.

When it isn’t, every investment makes a different promise.

That’s expensive.

So, where are you?

Not everyone who finds my work is ready for Strategic Development.

Some are still exploring.

Some are recognizing the pattern.

Some already know exactly what they want to work on.

None of those places is better than the others.

The important thing is knowing where you are.

Because the next step isn’t always another tactic.

Sometimes it’s simply understanding what stage you’ve reached.

If you’re not sure where you are, that’s exactly what the Authority Sensor is for.

It’s a focused, 20-minute working discovery session where we’ll identify where your business sits in the journey, what’s creating the gap between your work and the way it’s is being interpreted, and whether Strategic Development is the right next step.

Whether we decide to work together or not, you’ll leave with a clearer understanding of what’s actually happening and what deserves your attention next.
